Subcontractor Killed in Crash While Leaving Work at Caterpillar: Cops

He was leaving work when he crashed into a fence, police said.

JOLIET, IL — A Caterpillar subcontractor crashed his car through a chain-link fence and was killed Thursday afternoon, police said.

Timothy Veverka, 56, was leaving work when he crashed his Prius through the fence on Caterpillar property shortly after 3:30 p.m.

“Caterpillar personnel observed the accident and attempted CPR until emergency vehicles arrived,” according to the Will County Sheriff’s Department. “Veverka remained unresponsive at the scene.”

Veverka was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center, where was pronounced deceased.

The Will County Coroner’s Office is still determining the cause of Veverka’s death.
