When an officer tried to remove Wallace from the vehicle, Wallace drove the vehicle away from the traffic stop at a high rate of speed, causing the vehicle’s door to shut on the officer’s arm. Officers did not pursue the vehicle.
Meanwhile, before Wallace sped off, Pruitte indicated to Joliet police the odor was cannabis, however, Pruitte ignored the officers’ commands to exit the vehicle multiple times. Pruitte eventually exited the vehicle and when an officer attempted to detain him, Pruitte began to pull away in an attempt to defeat the arrest.
Pruitte was placed into custody without further incident and he received citations for improper turn and operating without auto insurance.
Later on Saturday at 9:48 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Malibu near the 100 block of Fourth Avenue for tinted windows. It was Wallace behind the wheel, and he was placed into custody for the incident that morning at South Center Street and Dekalb Street.
