Teen Who Lied About Needing Bail Money to Get Out of Jail Now Really Needs Bail Money to Get Out of Jail: Cops
He also lied about being a lawyer, police said.

JOLIET, IL —A teenager who conned a young woman out of cash, clothes and electronics by pretending he was locked up and needed bond money was locked up for real Friday night and actually does need bond money this time, police said.
Marcus Robinson, 19, was taken into custody on a charge of felony theft in connection with his alleged deception. Robinson was also charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with a suspended license, and on a Kendall County warrant.
Just over a year ago, Robinson ripped off a 24-year-old woman by pretending “he had been arrested and needed money to bond out,” according to a criminal complaint on file in Will County court.

Robinson, a Romeoville resident, also “posed as both an assistant state’s attorney named ‘AJ’ and a private attorney named ‘Mary,’ demanding money and material goods … purportedly to be released on bond and to retain private counsel to provide a defense for (his) purported arrest,” the complaint said.
Robinson’s relationship to the young woman, who also lives in Romeoville, was not explained in the complaint.

This isn’t the first time Robinson allegedly attempted to prey on a young woman, according to court papers. Just last month, he pleaded guilty to menacing an underage girl “via electronic communication,” threatening that she would be “harmed by a gang if she did not send him a nude photo of herself,” a criminal complaint said.
Robinson was sentenced to two years of court supervision for that crime.
Robinson’s bond had been previously set at $50,000.
