JOLIET — Even though the city of Joliet was recognized last year as being the eighth-safest city in America according to the MoneyGeek's 2023 roundup of the Safest Cities in America, that does not mean the city is immune to violence, because violent crime happens everywhere. This past weekend, on Saturday during the morning in the late afternoon, the Joliet Police Department officers were called two different areas of the west side to investigate shootings.

First, at 7:54 a.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Seeser Street, the St. Pat's Neighborhood Area, for a report of shots fired. Officers discovered that a house had been struck by multiple rounds of gunfire. No one was in the house at the time of the shooting, and there were no injuries reported. Officers recovered spent shell casings from the street. Officers conducted a canvass of the area during the investigation of this shooting.

More than eight hours later, more gunfire erupted in Joliet, this time closer to the Six Corners area and Plainfield Road.
