Wanted Man Ran From Joliet Police Officer But Didn't Get Far: Complaint
John Dieby-Echeverry had an active Will County warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous retail theft charge.

JOLIET, IL — A 30-year-old Joliet man now finds himself in the Will County Jail for the fourth time since late April. This week, Joliet police arrested John Dieby-Echeverry for the crimes of resisting and obstructing a peace officer. Dieby-Echeverry was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility because he faced an outstanding Will County arrest warrant.
According to the police agency, at 5:12 p.m. Aug. 4, an officer on patrol spotted Dieby-Echeverry walking in the 300 block of North Broadway Street and Dieby-Echeverry held an active Will County warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous retail theft charge.
As the officer approached and proceeded to handcuff Dieby-Echeverry, he ran but was apprehended a short distance away in the 300 block of North Hickory, police reports show.

Dieby-Echeverry comes from the 1200 block of Oakland Avenue, his arrest log noted.
