Amtrak Train Hits Vehicle In Lake Forest: Police

The driver of the construction vehicle was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A train hit a construction vehicle, injuring its operator, on Sunday in Lake Forest, according to police.

Officers responded shortly after noon to the area of Everett and Waukegan roads, where a front-end loader had been struck by a southbound Amtrak train bound for Chicago, police said. The loader was performing track maintenance at the time of the crash, according to police.

The loader’s driver was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. All train traffic was stopped on the Milwaukee District North line.

Vehicle traffic was not affected, but people were advised to stay clear of the area during the investigation, according to police.
