
Andrew Semmelman passed away in the early hours of April 5, 2024, at the Sheridan of Green Oaks. He was born on June 20, 1931, in Libertyville, Illinois, and attended Lake Forest High School, where he met his lifelong love, Audrey Henriksen. After high school, Andrew served in the Korean War. Upon returning, he attended Lake Forest College and then went on to earn his law degree from the University of Illinois. He served as a police magistrate judge, hearing local cases in a courtroom on the second floor of the Lake Forest police and fire department building.
He started a general practice law firm in the late 1960's where he worked until his retirement in 2017.
Andy was an accomplished athlete, playing competitive baseball and football in his younger days, and later enjoyed tennis, skiing and golf. He was also a sports fan and enjoyed following the Chicago White Sox and Bears. He was a true outdoorsman, with a passion for fishing and hunting, especially on trips up north to Brule Island in Canada. Andrew believed in giving back to his community and was an active participant of the local Rotary Club and a devoted member of Saint Mary's Church.

Andy was a loving father and grandfather, he was open minded, had a wonderful sense of humor and was the one to go to for thoughtful advice. He was slow to anger and quick to forgive and always supportive of his children's goals and aspirations.
Andy's greatest passion in life was for his wife, Audrey. They were married for 66 years until her passing in late December of 2022 and were completely devoted to each other. They had many friends and enjoyed entertaining and were able to travel together until late in life, experiencing many adventures around the world.

He is survived by his children, David (Beth) Semmelman, Peggy (Ron) Timm, Drew ( Hillary) Semmelman; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Andrew's life is planned for July 20, 2024. There will be a memorial mass at 11:30am at the Church of St. Mary in Lake Forest followed by a reception and fellowship at the Gorton Community Center in Lake Forest from 1:00-4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances may be made to the Lake Forest Rotary Club or your favorite charity.
