AR-15 Seized As Lake Bluff Man Charged With Domestic Battery: Blotter
Drunken driver crashes into back of squad car; hit-and-run driver believed she was in Naperville: Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Police Blotters

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police and Lake County court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jeffrey J. McCann, 28, of the 100 block of Green Bay Road, Highwood, was arrested around 2 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and cited for improper lane usage after rear-ending a Lake Bluff Police Department squad car with its emergency lights activated as an officer waited for a tow truck to come get an abandoned stolen car. Officers reported he kept passing out at the station and was unable to provide a breath sample. When a Lake County sheriff's deputy asked McCann how much he had to drink, McCann reportedly said "he had had a lot."

Norma J. Grabowski, 64, of the 2800 block of Amanda Court, Joliet, was arrested on the morning of Dec. 5 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and leaving the scene of a traffic crash after she was pulled over by officers near Sunrise Avenue and Park Place. Police had been dispatched to a report of a driver with a flat tire almost hitting a pedestrian, and while looking for the car in question, an officer noticed a matching car sped through town, striking a parked car on the way. Grabowski reportedly told police she was on her way to work at a Crate and Barrel and believed she was in Naperville. She declined to provide a blood or urine sample but gave a breath test which did not indicate the presence of alcohol, although she said she had used cannabis the prior day. Garbowski was also issued citations for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Mathias F. Shreve, 46, of the 1000 block of Campbell Court, Lake Bluff, was arrested around 11 a.m. on Jan. 4 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery in connection with a call to his home. Police reported finding a woman with a bloody nose and a blood-stained shirt who reported Shreve had punched her in the face. Due to the domestic violence charge, a Lake Bluff police sergeant took possession of an AR-15 rifle belonging to Shreve.

Jake Schultz, 27, of the 800 block of West Windsor Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Jan. 6 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers found him asleep behind the wheel of his car on Route 41 at the entrance to Lake Forest Hospital. Schultz reportedly told police that he had become stranded after hitting a tree in Trevor, Wisconsin. Schultz initially denied having drank alcohol, but after he was taken into custody on suspicion on DUI, he admitted drinking at a bar in Wisconsin before driving home and three more beers while sitting in the car before police arrived, police reported.
Capri L. Allen, 23, of the first block of Prairie View, North Chicago, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after she was pulled over for using a cell phone while driving 36 mph in a 55 mph area. After the officer noticed a passenger was swaying and slumped over with her eyes fully rolled back into her head, the Lake Forest Fire Department was called in to evaluate her. Allen was also issued citations for driving with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
Michael Bovastro, 46, of the 500 block of West 104th Street, Kenosha, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 on an active arrest warrant issued by authorities in Wisconsin stemming from an accusation of battery and disorderly conduct. Officers had been called to check on the welfare of someone walking in the street on Old Elm Road when they learned of the out-of-state warrant.
