LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police and Lake County court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Barry R. Bowers, 18, of the 1700 block of Dale Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 29 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop near the intersection of North McKinley Road and East Park Avenue for driving without headlights. Police reported he had bloodshot and glossy eyes and slower speech and refused field sobriety testing. While in custody, officers handcuffed him to a wall because he refused to stop doing squats in his cell, police reported.

Donald K. Patrick, 47, of the 600 block of North County Street, Waukegan, was arrested around 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 and charged with criminal trespassing at Knauz Auto Park, 409 Skokie Highway in Lake Bluff. Police reported he demanded to test drive a car that was not allowed to be taken out and became upset when staff declined. He reportedly asserted that he would call the mayor and chief of police of Waukegan and refused to leave when asked, leading to his arrest.

Eric Little, 44, of the 8800 block of South Parnell Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 13 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended license following a traffic stop on a Nissan speeding 84 mph on a portion of Route 41 with a 55 mph speed limit. Police reported he admitted having a few shots and beers before driving, and officers learned he had an active arrest warrant issued by Cook County authorities in connection with unpaid child support. He was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.

Makayla Ledesma, 20, of the 25200 block of West Highland Avenue, Antioch, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater, criminal damage and minor in possession of alcohol following a traffic stop on Route 41. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage and improper U-turn. Officers pulled her over after noticing several traffic infractions and she eventually produced a breath sample indicating her BAC was 0.191, more than twice the legal limit for alcohol intoxication for people who at least 21 years old.

Several boys and girls from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff were issued administrative hearing citations for consumption of alcohol by a minor after officers were summoned to a home in the 1300 block of North Green Bay Road by a noise complaint about a loud party around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. Police found children fleeing the scene, jumping over fences onto the property of neighbors and disappearing into the surrounding neighborhood. Officers also found beer cans tossed in yards and in the road and found several minors who had illegally consumed alcohol.

Trae D. Lewis, 25, of the first block of North Elmwood Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful use of a weapon following a traffic stop on Sheridan Road at Old Elm Road. Officers were summoned to the area for a report of a pickup truck driving all over the road, stopping and starting and driving erratically. Police reported Lewis initially denied drinking and became agitated when officers noticed a gun owner's license in his wallet and asked whether he had any weapons in the car. When he stepped out of the car, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol, and he later admitted to having one shot and one beer before driving. Police also found a loaded 9mm pistol in the center armrest of Lewis' truck.

Kenneth Wynn, 62, of the 1700 block of Park Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested around 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 29 on an active arrest warrant after police were called to the Jewel-Osco, 890 N. Western Ave., for a report of a suspicious person being aggressive to people.

Xavier Borja, 41, of the 100 block of North Western Avenue, Lake Forest, was arrested around 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 and charged with two counts of domestic battery after officers were called to his home for a report of battery. They found that Borja had assaulted a person in front of a child, leaving them with visible bruising.

Juan Chavez, 24, of the 200 block of Llewellyn Avenue, Highwood, was arrested around 3 a.m. on Oct. 3 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 after a patrolling officer found a pickup truck stopped at the intersection of Westleigh and Green Bay roads. The driver, Chavez, was asleep behind the wheel of a running car that was in drive. When he awoke he did not appear to understand the officer and put the car into neutral, drive and the into reverse before pressing on the gas pedal and coming within feet of striking the police car. When asked how much he had to drink, he told police, "probably a lot." A breath sample indicated he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Oleg Lazoryk, 50, of the 2200 block of Cardinal Court, Gurnee, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Oct. 6 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic stop near the intersection of Routes 41 and 60. Officers got a complaint about a black Toyota SUV and found it parked on the shoulder. He appeared confused and stared blankly at officers when they asked questions, and they asked his permission to search the vehicle. Police found multiple prescription drugs that were not in his name. He told police that he is a caregiver and he takes medications prescribed to his patients, which he said makes him feel like he has had "four or five shots of vodka."

Nicholas M. Caban, 20, of the 3000 block of Dato Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 and charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol. He was out on bond at the time awaiting trial on a charge of possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number. A subsequent investigation led to a felony arson charge.

Mary C. Tollaksen, 65, of the first block of Warrington Drive, Lake Bluff, was arrested around 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 17 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop on Route 41. Officers got a call about a speeding Audi cutting off other drivers and striking curbs. After police pulled her over, they noticed she appeared drunk and also issued her a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

Rodney Allwell, 30, of the 9200 block of Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, was arrested around 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 24 on an active arrest warrant stemming from an allegation he failed to appear in Cook County court after police pulled him over on Route 60 while driving a minivan with expired plates.

Joseph L. Pollard, 26, of the 400 block of King Muir, Lake Forest, was arrested on Nov. 6 and charged with two counts of battery after police were summoned to Lake Forest Hospital to meet with two people who were being treated for injuries after they suffered a battery. They told police Pollard battered them at his home.

Israel Ilagorre, 28, of the 5600 block of West Diversey Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on Nov. 12 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and driving without a license following a traffic stop on Route 41. Officers reported he was driving 96 mph and appeared to be drunk. He reportedly told police he had about five Modelo beers about an hour earlier. Officers also issued him citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.
