LAKE FOREST, IL — The information below comes from Lake Forest police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. Being arrested does not mean a person is guilty of the charged offense. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state are often dropped or reduced. Everyone named below is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Updated information about the following cases may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 22-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested around 1 p.m. on June 17 and charged with child endangerment after police were called to Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital, 1200 N. Westmoreland Road, for check of a child who was inside a locked car. Officers spoke with the child's father, who was inside the building, examined the child and took the man into custody.

A 44-year-old homeless man was arrested around 6:30 on June 19 on an arrest warrant issued by authorities in Cook County. Police were dispatched to Lake Forest Hospital to assist after the man asked for a ride to the train station.

Vitalii Shevchyk, 34, of 104 N. Washington Road, Lake Forest, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on June 27 and charged with aggravated domestic battery, unlawful restraint, two counts of domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of a domestic battery after police were called to his home and witnessed him physically battering a person. Officers ordered him to back away from the person and took him into custody. Prosecutors later approved felony charges.

A 52-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on June 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers first spotted a suspicious gray Telluride on Basswood Road. After circling the block, its driver was seen knocking on the front door of a house. Officers spoke to him and smelled alcohol on his breath before taking him into custody.

An 18-year-old Volo man was arrested around 7 a.m. on June 30 and charged with theft in connection to a report of a missing city-owned robot lawnmower. A GPS tracker on the mower led police to his home, and he and a juvenile accomplice were both issued citations.

Joe A. Robinson, 37, of the 9000 block of West Herbert Avenue, Milwaukee, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on July 4 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of over 0.08 and violation of carry concealed while DUI. While on patrol, officers observed a Dodge truck make lane violations. During the traffic stop, officers smelled alcohol on his breath and determined he was intoxicated. He was also cited for improper lane usage and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

A 34-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 2 a.m. on July 5 and charged with driving while license suspended, suspended registration, and cited for illegal transportation of alcohol by the driver following a traffic stop on a Cadillac for suspended registration.

Noam D. Routtenberg, 54, of the 400 block of West Main Street, Carbondale, was arrested around 1 p.m. on July 6 on an active warrant out of Williamson County. Officers were dispatched to Sunset Foods, 825 S. Waukegan Road, for a shoplifting in progress. The store did not wish to pursue charges and only wanted Routtenberg banned from the store.

Cassandra C. King, 32, of the 5000 block West Adams Street, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on July 6 on an active warrant out of Lake Forest. Officers were contacted by the Forest Park Police Department, stating they had King in custody. Officers picked up King from Forest Park and brought her back to the Public Safety Building before taking her to the Lake County Jail. Ashaya K. Garrett, 21, of 7000 block of South Wolcott Avenue, Chicago, and Kayla N. Chambers, 20, of the 14300 block of University Avenue, Dolton, were arrested at 4 p.m. on July 12 and charged with retail theft over $300. Officers were dispatched to the Lulu Lemon 680 N. Western Ave. for a burglary. While on their way, they found located the offending vehicle. According to police, King and an accomplice stole about $2,800 worth of store merchandise on June 7 and Garrett, Chambers and two other people were found with about $3,000 worth of stolen merchandise.

A 30-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested at 6:40 p.m. on July 7 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC over 0.08 after police were dispatched to 890 N. Western Ave. for a report of a someone throwing up outside his vehicle. Police found a Lexus in the parking lot and smelled alcohol on the man's breath.

A 36-year-old North Chicago man was arrested and charged with driving without a valid license during an investigation into a traffic crash at Waukegan and Everett roads around 8 a.m. on July 13.

A 38-year-old Waukegan man was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on July 13 and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle, suspended registration and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after police were dispatched to Route 41 and Old Elm Road for a hit-and-run crash.

A 41-year-old Mundelein man and a 66-year-old Lake Bluff man were arrested around 12:30 a.m. on July 20 after police pulled over a Toyota pickup for a lane violation. The Mundelein man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, no valid driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle, improper lane usage, and unlawful use of a weapon. The Lake Bluff man was charged with unlawful use of weapon, open transportation of alcohol and resisting arrest of a peace officer after police found a switchblade on the floorboard.
