Consumers Credit Union Donates $100,000 to Northern Illinois Food Bank to Support Lake County Families

Following the check presentation, CCU employees volunteered to help pack food for distribution, further supporting families in need.

Today, Consumers Credit Union (CCU) presented a $100,000 donation to the Northern Illinois Food Bank at its North Suburban Center in Lake Forest, helping families across Lake County facing food insecurity.

With 1 in 9 adults and 1 in 9 children in Northern Illinois unsure of where their next meal will come from, support from community partners is more important than ever. The donation will help the Food Bank provide nutritious meals and stability for families, older adults, and hardworking neighbors making tough choices between essentials like food, housing, and medicine.

"At Consumers Credit Union, our mission of people helping people guides everything we do," said Sean Rathjen, CEO of Consumers Credit Union. "We believe that supporting our communities is not just a responsibility - it's part of who we are. Northern Illinois Food Bank is a lifeline for thousands of families, and the need has never been greater. This donation reflects our commitment to ensuring no neighbor goes hungry and standing by our communities as the people in your corner."
