Pet Killed In Car Vs Pedestrian Crash In Lake Forest
A woman who was walking her dog in Lake Forest Thursday afternoon was struck by a car, authorities said.

LAKE FOREST, IL — A woman and her dog were struck by a car while out on a walk Thursday afternoon, killing the pet, according to the Lake Forest Fire Department.
The fire department responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Old Elm Road. When first responders arrived, they found a small SUV had struck a woman who was walking her dog at approximately 12:30 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with responders during the investigation, the fire department said.

The woman was taken to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital with minor injuries. The dog died as a result of the crash, authorities said.
"The Lake Forest Fire Department extends its thoughts to all those affected," the department said in a statement.

The Lake Forest Police Department will continue to investigate the incident to determine the cause, officials said.
