Drunken, Unlicensed Driver Flees Cops, Only Faces Misdemeanor: Blotter
Lake County prosecutors also did not approve felony charges for a man found with multiple guns at Forest Park: Lake Forest Police Blotter

LAKE FOREST, IL — The information below comes from Lake Forest police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. Being arrested does not mean a person is guilty of the charged offense. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state are often dropped or reduced. Everyone named below is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Updated information about the following cases may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Omar Herrera, 22, of the 2100 block of Dickey Avenue, North Chicago, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on March 13 at Lake Forest Hospital, 1000 Westmoreland Road, and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance after police were called there for a report of a visitor with drugs. Herrera, who also had a warrant for failure to appear in court in another county, gave police permission to search him and they found unspecified controlled substances in his possession.
A 73-year-old Highland Park man was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on March 22 and charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a violation of Scott's Law — improper passing of an emergency vehicle — following a traffic stop on southbound Route 41 near Old Elm Road. An officer making a different stop noticed the motorist violating the so-called "move over law," pulled him over and determined he was intoxicated.

A 21-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 4:15 a.m. on April 6 and charged with two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after officers found her sleeping behind the wheel of a parked car with its engine on near the intersection of East Wisconsin and Western avenues. Police determined she was too drunk to drive and also issued her a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol.
Diego Caceres, 25, of the 2100 block of North Elmwood Avenue, was arrested around 5 a.m. on April 6 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, attempting to elude police and driving without a valid license after officers were dispatched to a report of a driver asleep behind the wheel at West Westleigh Road and Route 41 tried to pull him over for driving erratically in a Kia. He fled police and was later apprehended by Waukegan police. Despite the allegation he fled police — a felony if the person doing it violates two or more traffic laws — and the fact that not having a driver's license is an aggravating factor making a DUI a felony, Lake County prosecutors only charged him with misdemeanors. He was also ticketed for illegal— transportation of alcohol by a driver, speeding, improper lane usage and disregarding a traffic control light.

A 37-year-old Ingleside man was arrested around 9 a.m. on April 6 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol after he crashed a Jeep Compass at Route 41 and Route 60.
A 48-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 1:15 a.m. on April 7 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid license after officers were dispatched to a report of a Jeep that ran a red light. Police found the car, noticed it commit a lane violation, pulled it over and determined the driver was drunk. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.
A 33-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested around 12:15 p.m. on April 15 in the 1000 block of Ryan Place after police determined he violated an active order of protection. He was charged with a single misdemeanor count.
A 49-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 8 p.m. on April 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol near the intersection South Waukegan and Half Day roads after police got a report that a silver Toyota sedan had struck a curb. When officers found the car, they witnessed multiple lane violations and pulled it over. The woman was also cited for improper lane usage.
Johnathan J. Goodwin, 40, of the 2400 block of Southeast 37th Avenue in Portland, Oregon, was arrested around 3 p.m. on April 19 after police were dispatched to a report of a suspicious Mercedes at Forest Park. Police spoke to Goodwin, who admitted having a gun in the car. Officers then found multiple handguns in the car and took him into custody. Prosecutors approved two misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
Leroy R. Bracey, 38, of the 4900 block of West West End Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 2 a.m. on April 20 an charged with obstructing identification and driving with a revoked license, ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding and having a single taillight after police pulled him over behind the wheel of a Jeep. Officers also discovered Bracey had an active arrest warrant and took him into custody.
A 23-year-old Highwood woman was arrested around 11 p.m. on April 23 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol after she crashed a Honda Pilot near the intersection of Route 41 and Route 60. She was taken to the hospital and also cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
David Costello, 53, of the 400 block of Bay Tree Circle, Vernon Hills, was arrested around 2 a.m. on May 10 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Riverwoods and Everett roads.
Shandell Pendleton, 24, of the 2400 block of River Hills Lane, Bolingbrook, was arrested around 11:15 a.m. on May 15 after police pulled her over and determined she had an active arrest warrant issued by authorities in Woodridge, who took her into custody once she was at the Lake Forest Police Department.
Fernando Alonso, 44, of the 600 block of Sheridan Road, Waukegan, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. on May 16 after police pulled him over near the intersection of North Westmoreland and West Deerpath roads and determined he had an active arrest warrant out of Vernon Hills.
A 22-year-old Kenosha man was arrested around 9 p.m. on May 16 near the intersection of North Western and East Vine avenues and charged with three misdemeanor counts, two of driving under the influence of alcohol and one of possession of cannabis, after police got a call about a reckless driver. He was also issued citations for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol, improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
