Human Arm Found On Waukegan Beach, Coroner Works To Identify

A right arm believed to have belonged to a female victim was found Saturday at Waukegan Municipal Beach.

WAUKEGAN, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office is looking to identify the person whose arm was found last weekend on the beach.

Police were called to the Waukegan Municipal Beach, 201 East Sea Horse Drive, after a person walking on the beach found what appeared to be someone's detached arm around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the coroner's office.

Coroner's office staff confirmed that the arm was indeed a "mostly intact" human arm, likely from a female victim.

A forensic pathologist examined the arm on Monday, but further inspection by a forensic anthropologist is needed to confirm its owners age and sex.

The arm may be related to an ongoing police investigation in Wisconsin. According to the coroner's office, DNA samples from the arm will be sent to that department's crime lab in an effort to identify the victim.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office notified the family of Sade Robinson, a 19-year-old woman who was killed and dismembered last month about the recently discovered arm, WITI-TV reported.

Maxwell Anderson, 33, has been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, mutilating a corpse and arson in connection with Robinson's death. murder and related crimes and remains in custody on $5 million bond.

Prosecutors allege Anderson killed Robinson after an April 1 "first date" at a Milwaukee restaurant where he used to work. Her severed leg was found in a park in Cudahy, Wisconsin, while her torso and arm washed up on the South Milwaukee shoreline.

Waukegan Mayor Anne Taylor said in a statement taht she hoped all residents joined her in prayer for the victim and the victim's family.

"I am aware that human remains were discovered along the shores of Lake Michigan in Waukegan," Taylor said. "Law enforcement authorities in multiple jurisdictions believe there is a strong possibility the remains belong to a woman who was the victim of a homicide in Wisconsin. "
