Joan Westfall Finch departed this life on August 22, 2023. She lived in Libertyville from 2004 to 2020 when she moved to Lake Forest Place. She was the daughter of Alfred and Philomena Rassenfoss. Formerly married to Charles B. Westfall, Jr., she was the mother of the late Chuck (Ying) Westfall, David (Jenny) Westfall, Carolyn (Paul) Finch, Bill (Kathy) Westfall, Nancy (Jeff) Winings, Patty (David) Haworth; Stepmother to Dennis and Paul Finch.
She was a proud Northwestern alumni, class of 1950. She raised 6 children as a single mother while selling real estate in Lake Forest. Her customers became lifelong friends. She was president and treasurer of Lake Bluff Women’s Club for many years. She loved her parish family at The Church of the Holy Spirit. She was president of the Wellington at Adler Park condo association. She was a true friend to all.
The family appreciates the loving care from the staff at Lake Forest Place and JourneyCare hospice during the last years of her life. Special thanks to Shari Fields, her caregiver and companion over the past more than two years.
