Julia Lenz, 80, Lake Forest

Julia “Judy” Anne Tinley Lenz (80) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, September 17, at her home in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Judy was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland where she attended Roland Park Country School. Judy was a proud graduate of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. While at Wake Forest, she met her husband, Bruce. Judy and Bruce were married in June, 1965.

Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Judy’s family brought her an abundance of joy. She loved spending time with the family on vacations and holidays, and cheering on her grandchildren in whatever activity they were participating. She was also a faith-filled woman who volunteered countless hours at her church and especially enjoyed teaching Sunday school. In line with her commitment to enriching the lives of others, Judy was a member of PEO International whose mission is to promote educational opportunities for women. She also truly touched lives worldwide, hosting many foreign exchange students and volunteering with AFS Intercultural Programs.

Judy is survived by her husband Bruce; children Michael (Ann), Matthew (Lynne) and Jonathan (Tiffany); grandchildren Jeremy (Brittany), Justin, Jason, Scott, Sydney, Alexander, Abigail and Aidan; brother Herbert (Betty) Tinley and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are Judy’s parents, Sidney “Bill” and Virginia Tinley.

A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church Lake Bluff on Saturday, October 21st at 11am. Inurnment will be private.
