Lake Forest Man's Debut Novel to be Published
Derek Sherman, of Lake Forest, is a first-time novelist whose new book, "Race Across the Sky," will be published by Penguin this summer.

It took Lake Forest resident Derek Sherman seven years to write his debut novel, "Race Across the Sky," while riding the Metra train, he told the Gazebo News. The book will be published by Penguin in July.
Sherman works in advertising as a writer and creative director, according to his biography. He is also co-founder of the Chicago Awesome Foundation, a charity dedicated to awarding micro-grants.
Sherman's novel centers on a hardcore marathon runner who reconnects with his long lost brother when a family crisis challenges them to work together.
"Race Across the Sky" has been chosen by the American Library Association as an Early Word Debut Novel for 2013 and as Penguin's highlighted book, according to the Gazebo News.
