Lake Forest Police Find Loaded Gun In Trunk Of Speeding Driver With Suspended License
Lake Forest police said a 30-year-old motorist is charged with armed habitual criminal following a traffic stop Sunday on Route 41.

LAKE FOREST, IL — Officers found a loaded gun in the trunk of a North Chicago man's car after pulling him over for speeding on Route 41 on Sunday afternoon in Lake Forest, police said.
Lake Forest police reported they clocked a Chevy at 90 mph headed north past Gage Lane shortly after 4:15 p.m. and conducted a traffic stop near Washington Avenue in Lake Bluff.
After speaking to the driver and sole occupant of the car, police learned he had a suspended license and placed him under arrested.

Before towing away his car, officers searched the car and founded a loaded 9mm handgun in the trunk alongside with an identification for the driver — a convicted felon and registered gang member with a conviction for a prior gun-related crime, police said.
When questioned, the driver denied the gun belonged to him, police reported.

Dimitri Dixon, 30, was charged with armed habitual criminal, unlawful use of a weapon with a prior offense and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon with no firearm owners identification card and a prior offense, according to police.
Dixon also faces charges of driving on a suspended license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.
Prosecutors filed a petition Tuesday to jail Dixon while he awaits trial. A hearing on that detention petition is scheduled for Wednesday.
