Local Residents Saving on Electric Bills
Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents who are part of the North Shore Electricity Aggregation Consortium are already paying less.

Lake Forest and Lake Bluff residents who have joined the have saved between $35 and $50 a month over the last two months, according to information from the consortium and the municipalities.
Since the consortium began supplying electric power to the Lake Forest in June, the 6,703 customers who did not affirmatively reject the opportunity have saved $318,383 in June and July from what is being charged to Commonwealth Edison customers, according to Communications Manager Susan Banks.

In June and July, Lake Forest residents paid an average of $47.50 less than the ComEd rate. For the year, Banks expects participants to save an average of $482 for a total savings throughout the City of $3,232,091.
In Lake Bluff, there are 2,011 customers who had an average savings of $38.79 per month with an aggregately reduced bill of $77,822. The customers can expect to save $394 for the year for an aggregate amount of $792,420.

On March 20, voters approved a referendum authorizing each consortium member to operate an “opt‐out” electricity aggregation program for its residents and small businesses. Through the intergovernmental agreement, the consortium has been working together since December.
The other consortium members are Highland Park, Deerfield, Glencoe, Northbrook, Park Ridge and Skokie. The total savings for all eight communities the last two months has been $2,838,785, according to a news release from the consortium. A savings for all customers for the first year is expected to be approximately $25 million.
