LAKE FOREST, IL — The City of Lake Forest is warning residents and contractors about a recent scam that is circulating.

According to city officials, residents and contractors have received fraudulent emails that ask for permit or development-related payments by wire transfer. These emails are not from the city and have been reported to authorities.

The city never requests payment by wire transfer for development-related activities, officials said. All legitimate invoices for permits and development fees will only be sent from bsa@cityoflakeforest.com.

If you receive a suspicious email, don't send any payment or personal information. Contact the Community Development Department at 847-810-3521 or call the city's main line at 847-234-2600.
