Lots of Changes at the Lake Forest Police Department

Several Lake Forest Police Department members were honored at the October 1 Lake Forest City Council meeting, including one retiree, three promotions and two new hires.

A resolution was read honoring Deputy Chief of Administration Glenn A. Burmeister for his 30 years of service with the City of Lake Forest. Burmeister has served in a series of positions during his time in the department, including as a Motorcycle Officer (in 1983), Police Commander (from 2001-2007) and was named the Deputy Chief of Police in 2007. During his time with the department, he has also received three Lake Forest Police Department Honorable Mentions, One Department Commendation Award, Personnel of Northwestern University and hundreds of hours of continuing education courses.

Karl Walldorf was appointed to the position of Deputy Chief of Police Operations. Walldorf has been with the Lake Forest Police Department for 19 years, and has served as a Patrol Officer, Investigator, Patrol Sergeant and Patrol Commander. Walldorf holds a BS in Accounting and a MS in Public Administration. He is a graduate of the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety School of Police Staff and Command.

Martin Blitstein was appointed to Patrol Sergeant this past summer. Since he was hired in 2000, he has served as a Patrol Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Juvenile Officer, School Resource Officer at Lake Forest High School, Northern Illinois Alarm System (NIPAS) as a sniper, Detective and Officer-in-Charge.

Dwight Davis was appointed to Patrol Sergeant beginning Oct. 1 and was pinned at the City Council meeting by Trina, his wife. Since  1995, Davis has served as a Defensive Tactics Instructor, Defense Tactics for Women Instructor, Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG), Northern Illinois Police Alarm System. He became a Detective with the Investigation and Youth Division this past May.

Two new officers were also sworn in by the Mayor at the City Council meeting. Both recently graduated from the police academy. The new officers are Misako (Misa) Rivera, who has worked for the NorthShore University Health Systems as a Certified Nurse Assistant, and Matthew (Matt) Jakob, who previously worked for the Millard Group as an Assistant Claims Adjuster.
