LAKE BLUFF, IL — Three members of a marching band were taken to a local hospital after suffering from the heat during Tuesday's Independence Day parade in Lake Bluff, officials said.

As the final floats rolling in the village's 113th annual 4th of July parade approached the end of the mile-long route, firefighters from the Lake Bluff Fire Department noticed that some members of an out-of-state band marching in the front appeared to be suffering heat exhaustion, according to village officials.

“Every fourth of July Parade we have [two or three] ambulance transports," said Dave Graf, the village's fire chief. "When it’s hot, it is not uncommon for the calls for service to be heat related."
