Moraine Township Freezes Tax Levy

Taxes will not rise in 2014 on Moraine Township portion of real estate tax bill.

A freeze in the real estate tax levy for next year by the Moraine Township Board of Trustees will ease the burden on Highland Park, Lake Forest and Highwood taxpayers after proposed increases by other government bodies.

With the bulk of its revenue coming from property taxes, the Moraine Township Supervisor Anne Bassi expects the owner of a $500,000 home to pay approximately $27 to the Township’s treasury.

Moraine Township includes most of Highland Park, all of Highwood and the southeast portion of Lake Forest.
