WAUKEGAN, IL — Chicago police have identified a person of interest in the murder of a pregnant woman whose body was found in Lake Michigan last month, according to a report.

No other information has been released since police identified the body of 19-year-old Yarianna Wheeler. A police spokesperson confirmed to the Chicago Sun-Times that authorities were speaking to the person of interest.

Wheeler's body was spotted by a fisherman on Aug. 15 near the Waukegan Harbor. A medical examiner confirmed the woman was about six months pregnant at the time of her death, but it took over two weeks for her body to be identified. The Lake County Sheriff's Office was able to connect Wheeler to a woman reported missing earlier in the month and confirm her identity with dental records.

She had been stabbed several times before being left in the lake, an autopsy found. Wheeler, who had been living in Chicago but was originally from Bellwood, was likely in the water for almost two weeks before she was spotted, officials said.
