To help voters prepare for the upcoming General Election on Nov. 3rd, the League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area encourages all registered voters to apply for a Vote by Mail ballot. As the coronavirus has made unsafe congregating in small, enclosed spaces for voters waiting in line, voting by mail provides a safe, secure, and convenient method of casting a ballot. A Vote by Mail ballot does not require an excuse or reason.
Because of recent legislation, the Lake County Clerk’s office automatically mailed out a paper Application for Ballot to all who voted in one of the last three elections or who registered to vote after the March primary election. Voters who did not receive one can complete an Application for Ballot online at the Clerk’s website. Go to https://www.lakecountyil.gov/4472/Vote-by-Mail-in-November-2020 for more information about voting by mail and other options.
Starting on September 24, 2020, Vote by Mail ballots will be mailed to voters who submitted Applications. The ballots can be filled out and returned to the Clerk’s office in person, deposited in a postage-free drop box, given to the election judges at a voting site, or postmarked by Nov. 3rd.
