Time and again violin soloist Gil Shaham led the Chicago Symphony into a full exuberance of music during Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto today at Ravinia.
Led by Music Director James Conlon, the orchestra took its lead from Shaham's gentle strains becoming more intense as the symphony broke into the full exuberance of the piece.
As the concert moved to its conclusion, both Shaham and the orchestra combined their intensity to arrive together.
Please listen to John Brodson of Highland Park describe his impression of the concerto.
