Swerving Driver Arrested for DUI on Route 41

A Kindle was also stolen from a car.

The following information is from the Lake Forest Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

DUI

Police responded to a cell phone complaint about a possible impaired driver on Route 41 at 10:15 p.m. July 26. An officer followed the vehicle driven by Abelardo C. De La Garza, 52, of the 600 block of Wesley Road in Glenview, and saw him swerve over the lane markers several times. The officer pulled him over at Old Elm Road and found an open container of alcohol in the car. Police said he failed a field sobriety test. He was charged with DUI-alcohol, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol. He was released on $3,000 bond and given an Aug. 22 court date.
