Waukegan High School On Lockdown Thursday Morning

Police were on the scene at Waukegan High School as of around 10 a.m. after officials said a threat was posted to social media.

WAUKEGAN, IL — Waukegan High School officials told Patch the school is on a soft lockdown Thursday morning while police conduct a sweep of the building.

A school spokesperson said the threat was seen on social media, which prompted authorities to investigate. Officials declined to give more information on the nature of the threat.

As of 10 a.m., multiple police cars were parked outside the building at 2325 Brookside Avenue.

Naperville North High School was also on lockdown and later canceled school Wednesday after officials said they received an emailed bomb threat. No explosives were found in the building.
