Wilfred (Wil) Chensun Ling passed away on September 6, 2023, at the age of 94 in Lincolnshire, IL. Born on December 6, 1928 in Tsingtao, China, to Frank Ling and Helen Wong, Wilfred was a gracious, generous, and thoughtful man. He was a loving brother, spouse, father, and grandfather. Wil was raised in pre-War China in a remarkable family with members who served in the military, pursued careers in various fields, and raised families in the United States and China. Wil lived in Lake Bluff, IL for sixty years.

Wil had an impressive educational background: he attended the prestigious St. John's University in Shanghai, completed another bachelor’s degree at Millikin University, and then received his graduate degree from the Ohio State University. He then pursued a successful career as a chemical engineer and research chemist at Abbott Laboratories for over thirty years.

In his personal life, Wilfred was deeply devoted to his family. Wilfred was a beloved husband for 63 years to his late wife Celia Ling, who preceded him in death and whom he now joins in Heaven. He is survived by his sister, Lena; two sons, Ernest and Francis; their spouses, Kelli and Nancy; and seven grandchildren: Joe, Ambrin, Kera, Rishi, Clare, Halima, and Matt. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
