Woman Run Over During Dispute, Driver Flees Police At 100 MPH: Blotter
A Chicago woman suspected of a burglary in Deerfield crashed in Lake Forest during a police pursuit: Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Police Blotter

LAKE FOREST, IL — The following information comes from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff police and Lake County court records as a record of those arrested by police. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indication of guilt, and criminal charges, which represent merely accusations by the state, are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts. All persons named are innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Yvonne Buckner, 43, 9529 South Bishop Street, Chicago, was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 following a traffic stop near Route 176 and Green Bay Road after officers attempted to pull over a white Chevrolet Equinox on suspicion of a burglary in Deerfield. The driver refused to stop for Deerfield police, and when Lake Forest police found the SUV, she refused to stop until blowing out a tire and crashing. Police reported that she continued to refuse to get out of the car when asked, and officers had to smash one of the windows to unlock the door and take Buckner, the driver, out of the car. She was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle and fleeing and eluding Lake Forest police, who cited Buckner for improper lane usage, improper turn signal and speeding 15 to 20 mph over the limit. She was also charged with reckless driving and fleeing and eluding Deerfield police.
Joshua Kemper, 23, of the 700 block of Can Dota Avenue, Mount Prospect, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. on Dec. 20 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater after officers pulled him over for speeding 63 mph on Westleigh Road near Buena Road. During a traffic stop, the driver smelled of alcohol and admitted drinking a pair of Long Island ice tea cocktails before driving. He provided a breath sample indicating his breath alcohol concentration was nearly twice the legal limit. Officer also ticketed him for speeding.

Carter G. Gantz, 33, of the 1600 block of West Division Street, Chicago, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on Dec. 24 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers were dispatched to a one-car crash in the 300 block of Onwentsia Road. Police found a BMW with all of its airbags deployed and the driver, Gantz, still on scene. Officers reported he smelled of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication prior to his arrest and also issued him citations for improper lane usage and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.
Abraham Mayorga, 19, of the 4100 block of Jennifer Lane, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 and charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing and eluding and two counts of domestic battery after police were called to the 300 block of Deerpath Road, where a woman reported that she had been in an argument with him. During the argument, she told police, she had reached into Mayorga's car to get her cellphone when he grabbed her arms and began driving away, dragging her behind. Police reported the car turned onto Westminster and she fell out, hitting her head on the pavement and rolling under the car. A rear tire ran over her arm, officers were told, and she was taken to Lake Forest Hospital for treatment. Police on patrol spotted Mayorga's car in the area and tried to pull him over, but he sped away at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Mayorga was later arrested by Palatine police and transferred to law enforcement custody in Lake County, where he was ordered detained unless he can come up with $25,000 to secure his pretrial release.
