Here are the top stories in Lakeview today:

1. The body of a 20-year-old man was pulled from Lake Michigan near Evanston Saturday. Officials had been searching for a missing swimmer for seven hours before he was found at 9 p.m. Three other swimmers had been rescued and hospitalized earlier in the day; one is in critical condition. (AP)

2. Lakeview Alderman James Cappleman was attacked Saturday in the 4700 block of North Racine Avenue, Chicago police said. Few other details are known about the circumstances of the case, but the 46th ward alderman was reportedly “struck with a blunt object during a disturbance” and suffered minor injuries. 3. Carjackings are on the rise in Lakeview, with 16 incidents reported so far in 2021 - only three were reported at this point in 2019, according to CWB. More than 1,000 carjackings have occurred citywide this year, up 200 percent from 2019. (CWB)

4. The National Alliance on Mental Illness hosted a mental health awareness 5K in the city this weekend. NAMI Chicago CEO Alexa James said calls to the mental health hotline have surged since the start of the pandemic due to anxiety and isolation. “Everyone should be able to have access to these mental health services,” she said. “This is a human right.” (WGN)

5. "A close collaborator of Pope Francis," Cardinal Michael Czerny visited St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church yesterday. Czerny serves as the Vatican's Undersecretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section. (St. Mary's)
