1. Two women were violently robbed in Lakeview Tuesday night, the third mugging in the area in the past week. They were sitting inside a car on the 1200 block of West Nelson when two robbers approached and threw one of them to the ground, demanding valuables. (CWB)

2. The Biden administration cancelled the president’s trip to Chicago this week “in order to continue leading crucial negotiations in Washington over his legislative agenda.” A White House official said the trip would be rescheduled. (CNN)

3. A former Northwestern University professor is on trial this week for murdering his boyfriend. Wyndham Lathem is accused of fatally stabbing 26-year-old Trenton Cornell in 2017. (Paid source: Tribune)

4. Federal investigators are trying to determine how a Seattle-bound Amtrak train derailed Monday on its way from Chicago. The train went off the track in Montana, killing three people and injuring more than 50. (ABC7)

5. A Lakeview studio is accepting sewing machine donations to “revive the dying art of sewing” for families. Niczka Studio sells clothing and offers alterations, but owner Tania Mackey hopes to begin giving classes for kids and adults to learn to sew in a “creative space.” (Block Club Chicago)
