Chicago Mentioned in Recent ISIS Conversations: CNN

U.S. intelligence agencies have provided information to Swiss authorities indicating the extremists plotting an attack against Geneva also discussed the idea of launching attacks in Chicago and Toronto, CNN reports.

“I think there would be no consistency between the three cities unless they have people in those cities who are waiting for some sort of notification or some trigger to move forward,” said Juliette Kayyem, a national security analyst, told WLS-TV in Chicago.

Investigations, carried out in collaboration with international and French police, prompted Swiss government officials to put Geneva, Switzerland, on high alert as these suspects are pursued. Quoting an intelligence source, CNN reports that Chicago was mentioned as a possible target in intercepted ISIS communications recently.

FBI officials in Chicago said the information was not target specific.

“The FBI remains vigilant and will continue to work closely with our other law enforcement partners to keep our community safe,” FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde said.
