CPD Commanding Officer Sues Department Over Facebook Harassment

Other incidents also alleged by the officer, who says he was targeted because he was a "straight arrow."

A self-described “straight arrow ... by-the-book” Chicago police lieutenant has filed a federal lawsuit against his former colleagues and the department, alleging he and his sons were harassed for two years because he followed proper procedures.

Ronald Forgue, 54, claims a phony Facebook page called him an “IAD informant, and a poster at the station called him a “sex offender.” The lawsuit also claims his sons were stopped on the streets often by other officers and rumors spread that they were gang members. Forgue’s lawsuit, filed this week in U.S. District Court, alleges that this behavior was a response to his willingness to mete out proper discipline to officers who broke the rules.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Forgue was commanding officer in the 311 center, worked in internal affairs, and served in the Gresham district as a lieutenant and the Calumet district as a sergeant.
