DAVIDsTEA Officially Opens on Southport (PHOTOS)

Trendy tea retailer DAVIDsTEA Inc. opened its second Chicago location on Southport Avenue in Lake View Saturday, and employees said it couldn’t have gone better.

Justin Hall, the store’s manager, says the new Southport location at 3530 N. Southport is bigger than the one the company just opened in Bucktown. And based on the grand opening, he says Lake View neighbors love the store.

“Saturday’s opening was above and beyond what we expected,” Hall said.

This isn’t only one of the first DAVIDsTEA locations in Chicago. The three Chicago cafes will bring the company's U.S. storefronts to seven, with other locations in San Francisco and New York City. The Bucktown shop opened Oct. 13, and the third will open on Dec. 1 in Lincoln Park.

And Hall stresses the store isn’t only a tea retailer, but also a place to relax with the company’s special brews. With more than 150 varieties of tea, Hall says to bring in your laptop or a friend and unwind at their seating area at the front of the store.
