Here are the top stories in Lakeview today:

1. Three dogs were recovered safely this week after being stolen from a Lakeview-based doggie day care. Keith, Pappy and Stella were in the back of a Dogaholics transport van when it was stolen from an alley Thursday. The van was recovered in the 1600 block of South Lawndale after a concerned citizen called police; the dogs were unharmed and “will soon be reunited with their family.” (Block Club Chicago)

2. Lakeview is among the most vaccinated communities in Chicago, the Sun-Times reports. The neighborhood is close to 80 percent vaccinated, along with Lincoln Square. City officials are aiming to vaccinate 77 percent of Chicagoans by the end of the year - a nod to the 77 communities in the city limits. (Paid source: Sun-Times)

3. Timeless Toys in Lincoln Square is asking customers to donate new toys to Afghan refugee families. The store will accept and match new toys purchased in store or on their website and they will be distributed to camps across the U.S. through Operation Allies Refuge. (NBC Chicago)

4. “Chicago LIVE! Again” is taking over Navy Pier today. The celebration marks the return of the city’s live performances, and the schedule includes shows from Second City, Disney’s “Frozen,” the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. (Navy Pier)

5. Proceeds from poster sales at last Monday’s surprise Metallica concert in Chicago will benefit the Lakeview Food Pantry. “We were very honored and very grateful that they picked Metro to be the place,” owner Joe Shanahan said of the band. (NME)
