1. An Elgin man was charged with shooting and injuring a Chicago police officer in Lincoln Park Monday. Jovan McPherson opened fire in the 1000 block of West North Avenue, striking an officer in the face. The officer was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. (WGN9)

2. A former DePaul University student was convicted this week of “attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State group.” The Associated Press reports that Thomas Osadzinski was living in a Lakeview apartment when he designed a computer code to help the group bypass programs that blocked its online agenda. The 22 year old faces up to 20 years in prison. (AP)

3. Chicago remains in the "substantial" risk category when it comes to new cases of COVID-19. Health department official Dr. Allison Arwady said removal of the state’s mask mandate is “not imminent” due to continued spread of the virus. (Block Club)

4. Second City co-owner Andrew Alexander sold his vintage brick Lincoln Park home this week. The 77 year old stepped down from his post as CEO of the improv comedy institution last year after allegations of racism emerged from employees. (Paid source: Chicago Tribune)

5. A $30 million renovation is in the works at Bridgeport’s Ramova Theatre, which has been vacant since 1986. The “sister theater” to Lakeview’s Music Box was recently proposed for a listing on the National Historic Register. (WTTW)
