1. The City of Chicago issued 10 citations to local businesses failing to comply with the state’s mask mandate. Of 87 inspected businesses, five failed to require masks and post proper signage about face covering requirements. (ABC7)

2. The Chicago International Film Festival kicks off today and runs through Oct. 24 at various venues across the city, including Lakeview’s Music Box Theatre. Opening night selection “The French Dispatch” is sold out but tickets are still available for “Halloween Kills” at 10 p.m. (CIFF)

3. Lakeview resident Matthew Hennesey had a front row seat to viral “Cane Guy” Rob Holt’s viral “magic” in the American League Division Series earlier this week. “It’s timeless: being passionate about baseball,” Hennesey said of Holt, who has been a Sox fan for more than 60 years. (Block Club)
