1. Illinois health officials reported 34 deaths from COVID-19 in the state Tuesday. More than 2,200 new cases were reported on Oct. 26. The statewide positivity rate remains at around 2.2 percent. (ABC7)

2. The Blackhawks organization released a letter to fans Tuesday after releasing the findings of a 2010 sexual assault investigation, which led to the resignation of longtime general manager Stan Bowman. The club outlined systemic changes it plans to make, concluding with its commitment “to continuing to earn your trust and support both on and off the ice." (NBC5)

3. Halloween is fast approaching, and Lakeview is ready to celebrate. The Lakeview Treats Festival will return to Peace Park Friday afternoon, featuring music, costumes and food. The Little Monsters Crawl is set for Sunday, which invites trick-or-treaters to stop at more than 70 local businesses. (Block Club)

4. Community support continues for Chicago Costume, a family-owned shop in Portage Park that made headlines last month when a corporate Spirit Halloween billboard went up across the street from its Montrose Avenue store. A Twitter thread about the decades-old shop was shared more than 4,300 times. (Block Club)

5. McDonald’s workers went on strike in several cities this week to protest sexual harassment in the corporation. Protesters demanded the Chicago-based fast-food company “strengthen and enforce its zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment.” (Chicago Business Journal)
