1. More than 30 Illinoisans reported getting sick due to a salmonella outbreak linked to onions. The bacteria has been discovered in 37 states and has led to 129 hospitalizations nationwide. (NBC5)

2. The saga continues in a string of North Side mail thefts. Two men were caught on surveillance video at a Clybourn Corridor area condo building, going through 40 mailboxes with what is believed to be a postal carrier’s master key. Several area residents have been reporting missing mail in recent weeks. (CBS2)

3. The state government is facing criticism about its new legislative maps, drawn based on 2020 census data. The nonpartisan Princeton Gerrymandering Project gave Illinois an “F” for fairness in its proposed map, which would drop the state’s number of representatives from 18 to 17. (WBEZ)

4. Oak Brook-based restaurant chain and hometown favorite Portillo’s went public Thursday. The company offered more than 20 million shares of its stock at $20 per share; it hopes to expand from 67 locations to more than 600 over the next 25 years. (Paid source: Tribune)

5. Tickets are officially sold out for tomorrow’s Lincoln Avenue Beer Stroll. More than 20 local businesses will participate and 30 beers will be available to sample for ticket holders. Attendees will be required to wear masks and show proof of vaccination. (Chamber)
