Here are the top stories today in Lakeview:

1. Business owners and Chicago aldermen continue to clash about requiring proof of vaccination to enter city businesses. Representatives from eight Chicago wards wrote a letter to public health commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady to show their support for requiring vaccine proof to patronize indoor establishments. Cities like New York, San Francisco and New Orleans already have these requirements. (WTTW)

2. The city issued 10 citations to local businesses for failing to comply with Chicago's mask mandate. North Side violators include Le Nocturne (4810 N. Broadway), Sluggers (3540 N. Clark) and HVAC Pub (3530 N. Clark). (ABC7)

3. The Chicago Park District has closed beaches for the rest of the year. Lifeguards have not been on duty since the end of the summer season, and dangerously high waves are expected in Lake Michigan through this week. (CBS2)

4. "The French Dispatch" and "Dune" are two of many highly-anticipated films making their premieres at the Chicago International Film Festival in October. The lineup was announced Monday and will feature Ridley Scott's "The Last Duel" and Kristen Stewart's Princess Diana drama "Spencer." The 57th annual event is set for Oct. 13-24 at several venues throughout the city; some titles will be available to screen virtually. (ReelChicago)

5. California and Puerto Rico have been removed from the city's COVID-19 travel advisory. Connecticut and Washington D.C. are back on the Chicago Department of Public Health list, which encourages travelers going to high-risk areas to test or quarantine to slow the spread of COVID-19. (ABC7)
