2. Chicago Public Schools officials are debating how to approach standardized testing in the district. New CEO Pedro Martinez said he is not a fan of standardized tests but understands “parents have to know how their children are doing.” (WBEZ)

3. The Chicago Police Department is facing an officer shortage “that many city leaders believe will only get worse before it gets better,” CBS reports. Some police say burnout and retirements are contributing to the crisis. (CBS2)

4. Chicago Park District CEO Mike Kelley resigned over the weekend after Mayor Lori Lightfoot called for new leadership. The conflict stems from a “culture of sexual abuse, harassment, and coercion” in the district’s lifeguard program. (Yahoo)

5. Lakeview's neighbor Andersonville was just named among the “coolest” neighborhoods in the world, according to the 2021 Time Out Index survey. The area came in second only to Nørrebro in Copenhagen, Denmark. (Block Club)
