Principal Who Criticized Emanuel is Suddenly Fired
CPS had no explanation for removing Troy LaRaviere from the post at Blaine Elementary School in Lake View.
CHICAGO, IL - Troy LaRaviere, an outspoken critic of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, has been removed as principal at Blaine Elementary School in Lake View.
A Chicago Public Schools email to parents Wednesday night said he’s been reassigned, NBC-Chicago and others report.
While citing a violation, CPS made the move in the midst of the school’s Spring Break. LaRaviere said he’s received no explanation.
“Interesting wording. I’ve been ‘reassigned’ with no explanation thus far,” LaRaviere said. “They’ve told the press far more than they’ve told me.”
LaRaviere has been outspoken against Emanuel and publicly supported his opponent, Jesus "Chuy" Garcia, in the 2015 Mayoral runoff election.
Parents who support LaRaviere have vowed to find out why the move was made and the odd timing behind it.
