1. A vandal was caught on camera last week scribbling racist and threatening messages on the windows of Trader Todd’s. The Lakeview bar is still cleaning up after the vandal’s tirade, which included breaking windows and security cameras. The public’s help is needed to identify the man, whom staff believe could have been motivated by the bar’s vaccination policy. (CBS2)

2. President Joe Biden is visiting Chicago today to promote the importance of COVID-19 vaccines and mandates for businesses. The president got his booster shot on Monday and tweeted: “If you got the Pfizer vaccine in January, February, or March — and you are over 65, have a medical condition, or work in a frontline job — you can go get your booster.” (Twitter)

3. The Sunnyside Lakeview dispensary is moving to a bigger location in November. The cannabis company is planning to move into a 10,000 square-foot space at 3524 N. Clark St., the former site of John Barleycorn. Sunnyside employees said a bigger space is needed to accommodate demand since cannabis sales were legalized in Illinois. (Block Club Chicago)

4. Carjackings remain on the rise in Chicago, with more incidents reported this week in Wicker Park and River North. More than 1,165 carjackings have occurred so far this year — 37 percent more than this time in 2020, CWB reports. (CWB)

5. The Illinois Department of Public Health announced this week that booster shots are recommended for certain populations, in accordance with CDC guidelines. Groups eligible for a booster include people 65 years and older, residents in long-term care settings and people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions. (Patch)
