Secret Business Slated at Former Ann Sather, Building Demoed (PHOTOS)
The Southport Ann Sather building is now rubble, and while officials can't divulge too much information, the new tenant will be "outstanding."
Lake View officials and real estate investors are remaining extremely tight-lipped about what new business will take the space on Southport Avenue where an Ann Sather once stood.
However, according to Joe Padorr of Seneca Real Estate Advisors, the new tenant will be “outstanding.”
Demolition started Friday at the prime piece of real estate at 3416 N. Southport Ave. right next to the Brown Line stop. Crews will soon wrap up the teardown, and construction is slated to begin sometime in the next ten days.

“I can’t tell you what’s going there just yet, but I can only say that it’ll be an outstanding project and an outstanding addition to the street,” Padorr said. “…Depending on the weather, the building will be completed and delivered sometime in the summer. I would say early summer.”
Heather Way, the executive director of the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce, also said she wasn’t able to speak about what tenant would fill the space, but agreed it will be a great addition to Southport.

Padorr, who also secured the leasing for Southport businesses like Athleta, Noodles & Co. and Southport Fitness, said the new slew of businesses has created quite the demand for space.
“The recent activity over the last year or so with regard to the Athleta and Noodles has kind of created an interest, a resurgence in retail on Southport,” Padorr said. “It’s really created quite a demand as well as a lack of inventory. So those two have a tendency to affect pricing, and therefore, we’ve seen some decent increases in retail square foot cots.”
Patch will update readers with any information about the secret tenant once it becomes available.
