Waffles Coming to North Broadway in Lake View
The trendy brunch spot is opening its second location on the North Side where Signature Pizza recently closed.
A new style of brunch will soon be served on North Broadway in Lake View after the trendy restaurant Waffles opens its second location on Nov. 15, according to Eater Chicago.
The restaurant will open at 3617 N. Broadway near Addison Street, a location formerly occupied by Signature Pizza. Owner Alex Hernandez told Eater the site is currently in its demolition stage and will begin the build-out soon for the 120-seat breakfast, lunch and brunch eatery.
Waffles is currently operating at 1400 S. Michigan in the South Loop. The modern restaurant has garnered three out of five stars on Yelp after almost 300 reviews, and according to the ratings, people have mixed reviews about the waffle joint.

“The waffle sampler did not impress me... and it had 4 chances,” wrote Emily Z. on Yelp after giving the restaurant two stars. “All the waffles seemed really crispy some bordering on hard, might be unavoidable with mini waffle makers, I’m not sure, but let's experiment and get the cooking time right!”
However, according to Jackie M. who gave Waffles five stars, the restaurant is highly recommended.

“The food doesn’t exactly comes out right away, but I have time,” Jackie began on Yelp. “My all time favorite would be the chicken bacon waffles - waffles are lightly battered/fried with bits of bacons drizzled with spicy maple syrup. The maple syrup is top-notch fresh syrup, not the nasty corn syrup. The chicken is always soo juicy and lightly battered.”

Hernandez says the new Lake View location will be larger than its current location in the South Loop, and it he will add more color and warm woods to the atmosphere to warm up the restaurant, reports Eater. Along with a 20-seat café serving Intelligentsia Coffee, fresh-squeezed juices and more, the space will be a welcomed addition to the North Side.
Waffles is open daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and until 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The new coffee bar will be open from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. via a separate entrance. For more information on Waffles’ menu, visit their website.
