1. A Wednesday shooting spanning two blocks in West Town left five people injured. Lakeview resident Michelle Peterson was having drinks on an outdoor patio on Grand Avenue when she heard the shots, telling the Sun-Times: “Two people were shot right there, in broad daylight, in the middle of a busy population area.” (Paid source: Sun-Times)

2.The man arrested for assaulting Lakeview Ald. James Cappleman last week in Uptown was arrested again less than 48 hours after being released. Tony Landers, 58, is being held without bail for battering a 62-year-old woman in the 4600 block of North Broadway. (CWB)

3. Members of Chicago’s queer community are speaking out about the police department expanding its LGBTQ+ liaison team from one officer to six. Youth Empowerment Performance Project Director Bonsai Bermúdez spoke to Chicago Reader about how Lakeview’s homeless youth have interacted with police. (Chicago Reader)

4. Chicago artists impacted by the pandemic could be getting a grant from the city, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced this week. The Chicago Creative Worker Assistance Program will distribute hundreds of grants by the end of 2021 to creatives who have lost income due to the pandemic. (ABC7)
