Libraryβs Mitten Tree Benefits Local Organizations
The Ela Area Public Library is accepting new and βlike newβ mittens, gloves, scarves and hats for the Libraryβs annual Mitten Tree. Beginning Sunday, Dec. 1, donations can be placed on the tree located in the Libraryβs lobby through Jan. 4, 2013. Last year, more than 450 items were distributed to the residents at Mount St. Joseph in Lake Zurich and the Lake County Haven in Libertyville.

Ela Area Public Library βFood for Finesβ Program Set to Begin Dec. 1Β
TheΒ Ela Area Public LibraryΒ will once again offer its patrons a chance to trade their current Library fines to support a local food pantry during its popularΒ Food for FinesΒ program in December. Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β
The Library will accept donations of non-perishable boxed or canned food, paper goods and cleaning supplies as payment forΒ currentΒ overdue fines December 1-30. Restrictions apply. Please visitΒ www.eapl.orgΒ for details and information.

LZHSβs Jazz Ensemble to Perform at Ela LibraryΒ
Β Lake Zurich High Schoolβs Jazz Ensemble will perform Duke Ellingtonβs nine movement Nutcracker SuiteΒ onΒ Monday, Dec. 3Β atΒ 3 p.m.Β at theΒ Ela Area Public Library.
This concert is sure to be a holiday treat for all-young and old. Originally recorded in 1960, Duke EllingtonβsΒ Nutcracker SuiteΒ took many of Tchaikovskyβs timeless classics and retooled them for jazz ensemble. Hear theΒ Toot Toot Tootie TootΒ (Dance of the Reed-Pipes),Sugar Rum CherryΒ (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy),Β Volga VoutyΒ (Russian Dance), andArabesque CookieΒ (Arabian Dance) as well as other movements from the work. Warm refreshments and sweet treats will be served following the performance.

Holiday Decorating Cents
Rhody Hausauer owner of Window ShoppingΒ will demonstrate how easy it is to create a gorgeous holiday home at a fraction of the cost using much of what you may already own on Wednesday, Dec. 5Β fromΒ 7-8 p.m.Β at theΒ Ela Area Public Library.

Last Minute Holiday Craft Gifts for Teens at Ela Area Public LibraryΒ
Out of ideas for what to give your friends and family for the holidays?Β Never fear! Make them anything from candleholders to ornaments in this DIY gift extravaganza. Students in grades 6 through 12 are invited to get into the holiday spirit and create a variety of thoughtful and cool personalized gifts for friends and familyΒ onΒ Thursday, Dec. 6Β fromΒ 4-6 p.m.Β at theΒ Ela Area Public Library.

LZ High School Performs Music of the Season
Returning for their annual holiday performance, the Lake Zurich High Schoolβs BARE Voices bring their energy and enthusiasm to this favorite event as they entertain with songs of the season onΒ Friday, Dec. 7Β fromΒ 1-2 p.m.Β atΒ Ela Area Public Library.Β Enjoy hot, spiced punch following their performance.
