Lava Island Aims For 'End Of Year' Opening: What You Need To Know About The Area's Newest Adventure Park
The business is moving into a former Best Buy at Quentin Collection shopping center near Route 12 and Quentin Road in Kildeer.
KILDEER, IL — The Chicago-area's newest indoor adventure park is hoping to open by the end of the year.
Lava Island is in the process of moving its business into a former Best Buy at Quentin Collection shopping center near Route 12 and Quentin Road in Kildeer. The Lava Island Adventure Park will be the first of its kind in Illinois.
"We’re still finalizing the exact date, but we are pushing for an end-of-year opening. With the holidays approaching, there’s also a chance it may shift slightly into early January. We’ll know more very soon," Mandi Delgado, new park openings marketing and events coordinator, told Patch on Wednesday.

Tell me more about the Lava Island in Kildeer: What should local residents expect?
Each Lava Island location ranges between 30,000 to 41,000 square feet. The Kildeer park should be just over 30,000 square feet.
Lava Island is a family-owned business, founded in 2018 with our first location in Aurora, Colorado. After years of incredible community support, we’re now expanding across the U.S., with several new parks opening this year.
All of our parks offer screen-free, imaginative play with attractions that typically include:
- Multi-level play structures
- Foam pits, AirBag jumps, Jacobs Ladder, Balance beam and Trampolines
- Slides
- Trike Tracks
- A dedicated toddler zone
- Artist-painted, themed birthday party rooms
- Comfortable parent seating areas throughout park and cafe seating
- A café with snacks and drinks
Admission covers everything in the park, no add-on fees, coins, or up-charges, which is one of the biggest differences between us and many competitors. (Also, we require socks to be worn, they don't have to be ours or even grips socks)
Birthday Parties:
Pricing for regular admission will be released soon, but our standard party package includes:
- $350 total
- $100 deposit to secure the date + room
- $250 paid on the day of the party
- 3-hour party:
- First hours: free play (Kids want to play as soon as they get there)
- Second hour: in the party room or food, cake, presents and such.
- Final hour: Play again, they can't wait to get back out there!
- 2 large pizzas (12 slices each)
- 2 drink pitchers (soda or pink lemonade) + unlimited water pitchers
- All party essentials included (cups, plates, napkins, cutlery, candles, lighter, cake cutter)
- Full clean-up handled by our team
- 2 Free All-Day Passes for the birthday child after checkout! ($44 value)
Optional add-ons:
- Themed balloon bouquets and Numbered Balloons
- Additional food/drinks
Each location has unique, hand-painted party rooms with a black-light glow feature, so we avoid publishing them broadly to ensure we don’t set expectations for rooms that differ by location. I can, however, send generic park photos and some sample room imagery.
Why did Lava Island decide to open here? Are more Chicago-area locations planned?
The Chicago suburbs have a wonderful family community, and we saw a need for more large, indoor, screen-free play spaces where families can be active and connect together year-round. The response to our Illinois expansion has already been so positive that we are actively exploring more locations, though nothing is finalized yet.
