Folklore Coffee To Bring A Little Enchantment To Downtown Lemont
The shop at 214 Main St., will hopefully be open by mid-to-late October, owner Tessa Abbasi told Patch.
LEMONT, IL — When you think of coffee, you probably don't think of Bigfoot, but that's the inspiration behind the name of Lemont's newest business, Folklore Coffee.
The shop at 214 Main St., will hopefully be open by mid-to-late October, owner Tessa Abbasi told Patch.
She said the reason behind the name, "folklore," starts with her "absolute love for Bigfoot."

Abbasi, who is an avid hiker and nature lover, said she loves the folklore around Bigfoot and always hopes to see one while hiking.
"I love that there are so many colorful creatures that are passed down through generations of storytelling and, to be honest, life is boring without the sense of enchantment one can feel from the magic of these tales...so why not believe?" she told Patch. "Folklore comes from my passion of wanting to create a magical experience for my customers through a cup of coffee, the same way I feel whenever I read a story about Bigfoot."

Abbasi and her husband moved to Lemont in 2017 and immediately fell in love, she said.
"We love the Heritage Quarries for nature walks, the Centennial Trail for biking, supporting the local establishments in downtown Lemont, and most of all, the deep sense of community," she told Patch. "Every time we would go on a walk or attend one of the community events, it would always end in a conversation about my future coffee shop in Lemont- I truly never considered any other location!"
Abbasi has big plans for the store, including a partnership with Whirlwind Coffee in Oak Park.
"Together we are creating custom coffee blends for Folklore, which I consider to be the best cup of coffee, in my humble opinion," she said.
Besides drip coffee, Folklore Coffee will also offer espresso-based drinks, cold brew, teas and cold-pressed juices.
"I'm most excited to show off our seasonal drinks, which will feature some unique flavors such as pistachio, rose, and butterfly pea," Abbasi said. "Customers can expect latte and tea flights, delicious locally-sourced pastries, pop-up events, and lots of community involvement!"
